Position Description:
 
To lead the operational side of the Company -- aligning organization, strategy, budgets and metrics with the strategic goals of the Company. This includes managing existing departments for Manufacturing, Logistics, IT, Engineering (post-sales customer service, installation, and training) and Sales Engineering support, as well as creating capabilities to deliver and support new products that the company is rolling out into US Military and Agency communications markets.
This position will be a key contributor to the strategic management of the Company. The position will be responsible for all aspects of fulfillment of the Company's products, as well as designing and offering profitable support services for the advanced communications products the Company designs and sells.
Manufacturing, Logistics, Sales Support and Services will be brought together under this person's leadership. Requirements include demonstrated capabilities to create and manage manufacturing and services in mission critical products. Networking and/or communications are also key backgrounds. Channel support is a key capability. Budgeting, coordination with the Executive team and with Partners, strategic thinking, and a commitment to profitability combined with a hands-on approach to management will be important to the successful individual in this position.

Functions:
  • IPRE/POST SALES ENGINEERING:
    • Direct management responsibility for Pre-Sales Engineering and Professional Services team members
    • Support Sales with Pre-Sales Engineering Developing staff who are responsive and can explain the technical aspects of proposed solutions
    • Maintain responsibility for the Pre-Sales Engineering and Professional Services budget
    • Responsible for the continual development of standard operating procedures
    • Lead in the development of project scope, pricing, and preparing proposal opportunities
    • Lead product support including installation process, customer service integration, training, performance evaluation and budget
    • Ensure competence and continuity of qualified staff through optimum selection and utilization, development/training, appraisal and motivation techniques in accordance with the system EEO policy and appropriate policies and procedures
    • Develop go-to-market strategy for Professional Services; prioritize and "productize" services offerings into discrete packages that can be marketed to multiple accounts with specific needs or within specific verticals
    • Must have the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment, clearly communicate department priorities, as well as engage with customers to ensure long term relationships and achieving highest levels of customer satisfaction across all products and markets
    • Partner with other departments including, but not limited to Marketing, Product Development and Finance to insure successful product and services roll-out, integration and continued quality of service for customers
  • IT:
    • Manage, allocate and oversee personnel across various functional areas including network operations/monitoring, outage detection/recovery, Tier 1-2 support, and network operational analysis.
    • Monitor the daily operations, performance and security of the overall network, responding to problems and incidents as necessary in accordance with operating policy and customer service level commitments.
    • Maintenance of the Company website.
  • PRODUCTION/PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT:
    • Oversee Production department, including supply chain management, assembly and manufacturing of company and VAR products
    • Oversee facility capacity planning and maintenance
    • Develop vendor/supplier relationships
    • Manage inventory levels and composition to support the business at the lowest carrying costs
    • Manage purchasing function for optimal acquisition costs in compliance with company policy
  • LOGISTICS:
    • Oversee management of shipping/receiving, warehouse, and inventory
    • Coordinate integrated logistics with partners, including sparing and parts replacements
  • SECURITY:
    • Develop corporate and IT security practices, ensuring they are implemented
    • Manage security requirements for clearances, COMSEC, export controls, and government furnished components
  • Strategic Thinking/Leadership - Must be a visionary who can act to innovate and contribute tangibly and measurable to the growth of the business.

 Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Technology, Computer Science or related field, or commensurate experience
  • Extensive prior experience (10+ years) of managing a professional services/Operations organization and increasing revenue
  • Demonstrated capabilities to create and manage manufacturing and services in mission critical products required.
  • Experience managing an Engineering team
  • Strong technical background in networking and/or communications are required.
  • Strong technical background in contact center operations, or e-commerce a plus
  • Must understand technical issues, but is also a "big picture" thinker who looks for ways to improve and grow the product support operations
  • Strong demonstrated project scoping skills
  • Experience in the federal market a plus
  • History of building an organization or a business unit
  • Strong decision making ability and willingness to support changing department initiatives
  • Strong grasp of P&L management, pricing, and project costing
  • Strong customer-facing experience; demonstrated ability to work with sales to help close business is a plus
  • Ability to manage, maintain, and continuously improve the internal processes
  • Able to determine staff level, interview/hire new employees and conduct performance reviews
  • Ability to identify and solve potential issues early on and escalate as appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
