Position Description:
 
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining client and internal databases (relational and OLAP), insuring their adequate security and performance levels, and developing related utilities.. Works closely with the technical operations team to assist in performance tuning, creation of required scripts and stored procedures, and other tasks. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Looking for someone with good SQL skills to work with the team to plan for the upgrade to SQL 2005 and work to maximize our SQL structure.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates certain technical projects within the department to ensure business customer requests are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Esures documentation is current and up to date.
  • Ensures and manages database security; granting/revoking permissions on demand
  • Maintains database performance by developing tuning methodologies;
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing database performance and trends;
  • Creates and maintains queries and stored procedures for database access, creation, and modification.
  • Develops and maintains various database related utilities.
  • SQL Security administration on both 2000 and 2005 security models
  • Analyzes business data requirements to produce relevant ETL architecture deliverables (source analysis, source to target maps, ETL flows).
  • Works with ETL developers and Business Analysts to develop source to targets maps.
  • Performs additional duties and special assignments as required by department during normal work hours and after hours while on-call.
  • Must be willing to be available by cell phone for emergencies.
  • Performs duties in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to this department, branch, or function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Four-year degree and two (2) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education of six (6) years or more.
  • At least 3 years of experience as SQL Server Database Administrator in a Windows 2003 Server environment.
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2000, including Analysis Services and Integration Services.
  • SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 upgrade experience.
  • SQL Server Performance Tuning and Query Optimization Experience.
  • Transact SQL proficiency.
  • Database Modeling, Normalization Concepts experience.
  • Expertise with configuring, implementing, and supporting high availability strategies with SQL server systems including MS clustering and replication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience preferred in:
    • Report Authoring (in multiple reporting tools)
    • SQL Reporting Services
    • SQL Report Designer (Visual Studio)
    • SQL Management Studio
    • MS Access
