Project Description:

 

Manage tasks, scope, resources, issues and/or risks for a customized application development/implementation or enhancement project(s). Create and maintain all project management deliverables, including the project plan and budget, and ensure all project tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. Communicate the status of the project throughout the entire organization. Execute development and communication processes and incorporate them into the project.

• Work with teams in the initial planning of the project. Includes high-level requirements gathering, resource planning, timelines, and cost analysis. May include working with multiple organizational departments including Marketing, Implementation, Regional Offices and Sr. Management.
• Create the project definition outlining the purpose of the project and the success criteria.
• Define the resource needs and work with Resource Managers in allocating team members.
• Work with end users and project stakeholders to define requirements, delivery dates, project integration points with other applications and business processes.
• Create and maintain all project plans and the information required for the plan including:
  • Scope definition
  • Resource requirements (team members and equipment)
  • Tasks to be assigned
  • Estimates for each task
  • Dependencies between tasks
  • Prioritization of all tasks
  • Project deliverables
• Create and maintain the project budget. Responsible for creating the initial budget and providing frequent budget status to Management.
• Communicate project status to team members, stakeholders, and end users. Responsible for all project meetings and all status reports.
• Manage project scope to ensure deliverable dates are met. Responsible for tracking all change requests and managing their implementation or deferral.
• Participate and manage projects that span multiple departments within the organization and team members from those departments.
• Identify issues, areas for improvement and recommend processes to be used on the project to ensure accurate communication, project definition, estimation, quality, and overall project success.
• Responsible for incorporating process improvements throughout the lifecycle of the project in order to keep the project on plan.
• Responsible for all metric collections to be used for future project planning and process improvements.
• Responsible for bringing new processes into the organization to be implemented into the current or future projects.
• Participate in or manage projects that may not focus on software application implementations but require project management expertise.
• Participate and lead technical strategy sessions with other IT members.

 Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:  

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management of software development required AND 1 year web-based, highly distributed environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Project required.
• Experience with iterative development environment is strongly preferred.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field of study.
