Position Description:
 
Provide project management services on internal and external projects and tasks in the Windows administration area. Provide project leadership and serve as primary point of contact between IT peer groups and clients.
Work with Infrastructure Manager to promote effective management of resources and workloads. Accountable for internal project coordination, risk management, and issue management. Collaborate in administration and management of a global, Microsoft centric corporate environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all levels of project and task administration in a highly dynamic Windows Infrastructure management team.
  • Create, maintain, and report resource utilization and workloads. Implement industry standard resource management and demand management practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and track project budget, milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure project Scope Management, quality management, quality assurance and control
  • Serve as a communication focal point for peer groups, clients, and various levels of management.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with peer groups, clients, and various levels of management.
  • Participate in team collaboration and strategic planning efforts.
  • Manage project risks by identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks associated with factors such as new technology, very tight schedule constraints, lack of availability of skilled resources, and readiness of the user organization to accept the change.
  • Provide timely and appropriate generation and dissemination of project information to management and other stakeholders to ensure expectations are consistent with the realities of the project.
  • Identify organizational changes that must occur and develop appropriate communication and training programs for impacted departments and staff to support the new system.
  • Provide effective project leadership for the team.
  • Mentor team members in all aspects of project management and communication.
  • Identify and promote team improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the team and management to develop and track relevant key performance metrics
  • Assist the team with vendor relationship management and asset management
  • Collaborate with other Infrastructure Project Managers and the PMO to develop and adapt department wide standards and best practices
  • Assist in the implementation of IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL processes to improve process maturity and system availability
  • Participate at some level in day to day administration of corporate Windows server platforms. Example: application of security patches.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or technical area, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification required. Leadership training is desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a project coordinator, project leader, or project manager in IT Infrastructure area. Must possess strong project management, time management, negotiation, budget management, risk management, portfolio management, and prioritization skills.
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing Windows Management / Administration services in medium (>50 servers) to large (>300 servers) corporate environments.
  • Experience with Windows management / Administration.
  • Microsoft certifications beneficial.
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task with effective workload prioritization.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills with demonstrated ability to build/maintain effective working relationships with individuals and teams in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience in collaboratively defining, gathering and disseminating project based metrics
  • Experience in developing, communicating and selling project approaches and practices

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes is desired. ITIL Certification is a plus.
