Position Description:

Manage rollout of complex technology solutions in the end user computing area in support of the Client business objectives.

The team coordinates procurement, rollout, on-going administration and lifecycle management of handhelds, RF Guns and a variety of other end user computing devices. Serves as the teams primary point of contact between IT, business operations and vendors.

The selected individual is accountable for the scope, schedule, budget, quality, communication, risk management, vendor management and issue management of projects assigned to the team.

May require some domestic travel, less than 10% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and ensure integration of all elements of technology rollout such as hardware, software, network and applications
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, application development and business to determine service requirements and service levels
  • Manage the acquisition process with vendors and procurement team to obtain goods and services required for the team such as procurement planning, RFP preparation, source selection, and contract negotiation and administration
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and infrastructure design teams to determine cost efficient and optimized technology solutions
  • Provide timely and appropriate generation and dissemination of project information to management and other stakeholders to ensure expectations are consistent with the realities of the project(s)
  • Ensure project Scope Management, quality management, quality assurance and control
  • Ensure timely completion of projects. Schedule management consists of task or activity definition, activity sequencing, resource planning, activity duration estimating, and project schedule development and control. This will also require negotiation with the business and the vendor for appropriate installation time windows
  • Ensure projects are completed within the approved budget. Cost management consists of resource estimating, cost estimating, and cost monitoring and control.
  • Ensure that the projects are in alignment with the overall program guidelines. Provide metrics and communications required by management
  • Manages project risk by identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks associated with factors such as new technology, very tight schedule constraints, lack of availability of skilled resources, and readiness of the user organization to accept the change.
  • Capture and report on cost, schedule and service level metrics for the team
  • Identify organizational changes that must occur and develop appropriate communication and training programs for impacted departments and staff to support the new technologies
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the project team, including project organizational planning, staff acquisition, and team development

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in business, MIS, or technical area required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have PMP certification. Leadership training is desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a project coordinator, project leader, or project manager in a technology rollout environment. Must possess strong project management, time management, negotiation, budget management, risk management, portfolio management, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with project management and rollout of end user computing devices (handhelds, POS, RF Guns and other Wireless Devices etc) to multiple locations (at least 100+ locations, or internationally) is required.
  • Experience with vendor negotiations for technologies and services is required
  • Experience in collaboratively defining, gathering and disseminating project based metrics
  • Experience in developing, communicating and selling project approaches and practices
  • Solid communication skills in customer settings and with internal management. Communication skills include active listening, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical people
  • Broad range of network and desktop knowledge, including experience with MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes is desired
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and experience managing expectations.
  • Ability to establish solid business relationships and work effectively with senior business and client contacts.
  • Proven track record in successfully managing projects that impact resources and stake holders across multiple departments in the enterprise
  • Ability to readily grasp complex application and infrastructure environments
  • Ability to manage vendors and professional services staff
  • Ability to bring resolution to highly complex and stressful situations with multiple constituents
  • Ability to work and participate effectively in a dynamic self directed team environment including demonstrated skills in collaborating within and across organizational boundaries
