Length of Engagement: 6 Months (with possible extension)

Position Description:

 

Responsibilities:

• Assume lead role on work assignments and delegate tasks to the development team.
• Actively work with customers and IT to gather and document functional and system requirements
• Perform analysis and design on small to medium application projects / enhancement requests
• Write detailed technical specifications for developers to follow
• Perform system analysis
• Facilitate IT work estimates
• Document use cases and closely interact with developers and QA
• Facilitate test planning, execution and user testing
• Provide guidance and training to peers and to developers at lower levels
• Facilitate meetings and document outcome
• Perform technical training when necessary
• Develop and perform formal presentations when required
• Understand IT processes and work within designated guidelines
• Participate in the development and continuous improvement of BSA standards
• Provide customer service in an advisory role
• Assist with user training as needed
• Troubleshoot application problems and propose optimal resolutions
• Responsible for optimization of system applications
• Provide on-call support as required (may require evening and weekend work).
  Provide best practices and application knowledge mentorship

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

• Tools/Applications:
  • Experience with J2EE development is mandatory no exceptions
  • Experience with DB2 is mandatory no exceptions
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Ant, Unix Shell is mandatory no exceptions
  • Experience documenting integrated systems is mandatory
  • Advanced SQL Server skills (ETL, DTS, SSIS, and T-SQL) is desired
  • Working within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle Methodology is required
• At least five years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst and be responsible for assembling and facilitating the review and approval of technical designs and systems diagrams; providing information and guidance to the business representatives to ensure the approved requirements will achieve business objectives; translating functional designs into written technical designs and specifications; reviewing and approving technical specifications cross functionally, ensuring they align with the business requirements, and technical requirements; providing assistance to the IT manager in understanding the requirements and resolving any project conflicts.
• Accountable for writing, publishing, getting approval and maintaining detailed functional specifications, as well as reviewing and approving appropriate technical designs.
• Must be able to plan and perform testing, including documenting test conditions, expected results, and test validation.
• Professionalism and strong communication skills are essential. Must be comfortable working under the pressure of delivering quality results with schedule deadlines and must have a proven track record in meeting schedule for tasks while still meeting or exceeding business requirements and goals.
• Must be able to work independently as well as with others on work tasks and must demonstrate initiative and ability to self-manage time and work with minimal direction.

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

• Mainframe IMS and DB2 data access is a plus
