Position Description:
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assume lead role on work assignments
  • Actively work with customers to analyze business needs, gather and document business and system requirements
  • Perform analysis and design on small to medium application projects
  • Identify risks in proposed project designs
  • Write detailed technical specifications for developers to follow
  • Perform business process analysis
  • Facilitate IT work estimates
  • Document use cases and closely interact with developers and QA
  • Facilitate test planning, execution and user testing
  • Facilitate meetings and document outcome
  • Perform technical training when necessary
  • Develop and perform formal presentations when required
  • Set technology direction in concert with Architecture Guidance and IT standards
  • Understand IT processes and work within designated guidelines
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of BSA standards
  • Assess user needs
  • Provide customer service in an advisory role
  • Assist with user training as needed
  • Troubleshoot application problems and propose optimal resolutions
  • Responsible for optimization of system applications
  • Provide on-call support as required (may require evening and weekend work).
    Provide best practices and application knowledge mentorship

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Tools/Applications:
  • Mainframe IMS and DB2 data access is required Advanced SQL Server 2005 skills (ETL, DTS, SSIS, and T-SQL) is required
  • Working within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle Methodology is required
  • Must have at least five years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst and be responsible for assembling and facilitating the review and approval of the business requirements; providing information and guidance to the business representatives to ensure the approved requirements will achieve business objectives; reviewing and approving functional specifications, ensuring they align with the business requirements; providing assistance to the IT manager in understanding the requirements and resolving any project conflicts.
  • Accountable for qualifying, recording, and publishing requirements into the master requirements schedule. Must be able to plan and perform testing, including documenting test conditions, expected results, and test validation.
  • Professionalism and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Must be comfortable working under the pressure of delivering quality results with schedule deadlines and must have a proven track record in meeting schedule for tasks while still meeting or exceeding business requirements and goals.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with others on work tasks and must demonstrate initiative and ability to self-manage time and work with minimal direction.
  • Willingness to travel and On-Call are required as well as flexibility to accommodate east coast and west coast work hours.

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Business Intelligence (end user computing, management reporting) development solutions is desired
  • .Net Programming experience is strongly desired
  • Experience writing Cognos Reports is desired Active Server Pages (ASP) experience is desired
