Position Description:

 

The Client specializes in the integration of all functions across the supply chain, from sourcing of raw materials through product manufacturing to the distribution of finished goods.

 

Overview

 

Their product, Logistics Management Solution (LMS) is the result of a the Client and Baan partnership to co-develop enhancements and new functionality necessary to provide supply chain management features to deliver an industry leading transportation system.

Additionally, the Client is active in procurement, manufacturing and light assembly using the baseline BaanERP system. This project requires dedicated, technical, adaptable individuals to assist with the client implementations, conversions and system improvements.

You will be helping to lead a core team of similar minded developers responsible for the design, development and implementation of LMS/Baan projects for new and/or existing clients.

A Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for understanding business requirements as well as developing and implementing solutions that fit nicely into the overall offering and meet customer expectations.

The primary functions of this job include participating in interpreting business needs into technical requirements, collaborating with other functional experts to design solutions, resolve business critical issues, and providing extensive support to our end customers.

Additionally this position requires the ability to multi-task and to complete projects under tight timelines. Strong organizational skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Client's business processes in the area of Warehousing, Freight Management, Order Management, Finance or Warehousing or a strong transportation background

 

Responsibilities:

• Review and clarify business requirements validate
• Collaborate with other functional area experts to design solutions
• Write the technical specification and present to the Design Oversight Committee for approval
• Resolve business critical issues quickly with solid solutions
• Review technical solutions/designs provided by others
• Direct other technical resources in technical solution effort
• Perform the actual development and coding
• Conducts and assists in all phases of testing including:
  • Unit Testing
  • Systems Testing
  • Integration Testing
  • User Acceptance
  • Provide 24 x 7 support to end users (rotating on-call)
  • Support non system issues by providing LMS training and direction
  • Provide preliminary and budgeted costings
  • Provide work level estimates
  • Provide input for project timelines
  • Provide status on LMS projects
  • Prioritize development tasks
  • Interface with both internal and external customers/team
  • Complete time tracking for each project
• Provide mentoring to peers and daily guidance/management within a team environment
• Communicate the status of projects to LMS management as well as others in the organization as required.
• Coordinate projects with the appropriate the customer facing team and/or account manager for their assigned projects.
• Actively participate in the design of projects or review proposed designs to ensure application integrity. .
• Recognize projects that may impact multiple modules or the overall design of LMS and bring them the Design Oversight Committee for review.
• Provide technical consulting to other IT groups

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

• 4-7 years in IT Analyst/Engineer role
• Baan lV or V development required
• Java
• XML
• Basic Oracle PL/SQL
• Knowledge of manufacturing and logistics planning and execution and/or practical experience
• Project Management Methodology
• Ability to learn/understand functionality of multiple logistics-related systems
• Understanding of system development life cycle (SDLC) including developing requirements through implementation
• Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non technical people
• Solid planning, design and implementation skills
• Technically and analytically minded
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field. Equivalent experience accepted
