Position Description:

Perform analysis, design, development, testing, and documentation on new interfaces and enhancements to existing interfaces for business clients. Incumbent may review, confirm, and/or approve elements of the interface development process.

Function as a member of a project development team and independently for interface modifications and support. Ensure tasks are completed on a timely basis and conform to specifications, processes and standardized best practices. Position requires some travel.

This position will also be considered at the Senior Level, depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the review and analysis of business requirements and the design and development of solutions for new interfaces and enhancements or modification to existing interfaces.
  • Review work estimates and schedules for projects. Recommends changes as necessary.
  • Create interface and system specification documents to satisfy project requirements.
  • Review and/or direct other technical resources in solution effort. Develop and code interfaces to specification as needed.
  • Assist in creating test plans. Conduct and assist in all phases of testing.
  • Participate as a member of the development team in the deployment/implementation of integration solutions.
  • Collaborate with project team members and QA on development and customer issues.
  • Provide system and applications support to support analysts including issue resolution. Accurately repair and document changes to interfaces.
  • Participate in code and design reviews and technical presentations to cross functional staff.
  • Monitor system and application performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide input on IT tools and application upgrades.
  • Participate in sales support activities including responses to RFPs, RFQs, and demos.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotational support of applications.
  • Actively participates in continuous process improvement efforts.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in CS, MIS, or technical area or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT solutions development preferably in medium to large corporate environments. Experience in logistics and/or transportation management and business analysis is also required.
  • IBM WTX experience is required
  • System knowledge MUST include one of the following EAI tools, IBM Websphere Transformation Extender (formerly, Mercator or Ascential DataStage TX) or Sun SeeBeyond. IBM WebSphere Message Broker may also be considered.
  • System knowledge may include UNIX, Oracle, PL/SQL, XML, Java, C, C++, HTML, XML, Perl/shell scripting and the suite of Microsoft applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal management. Strong active listening, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes.
  • Solid project management skills. Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities. Prior experience managing customer expectations.
  • Ability to learn and understand functionality of multiple logistics-related systems.
  • Ability to deliver specific solutions to general requirements under tight timeline and budget constraints.
  • Ability to establish strong business relationships and work effectively with senior business and client contacts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as participate effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical people.
  • Ability to perform 24/7 on-call duties on a rotational basis.
